The 60-year-old Dundee singer/songwriter will be playing solo tracks and Deacon Blue hits from his Short Stories Live Volume One album at the Market Drayton event.

Ricky says he is 'very happy' to be performing at the event.

"What could be better than a music and food festival in the Shropshire countryside?" he said.

"This album is like a souvenir of my solo shows.

"They're intimate, minimal, and a chance for me to revisit songs that started out life with just piano and vocals.

"I can take them back to their roots, as well as play some new songs inspired by recent times."

He will be supported by local solo artist Heidi Browne, who said she is 'thrilled' to be returning to the area to play alongside the 'musical legend'.

"The festival is a brilliant initiative," she added.

"Food and music are two of the greatest aspects of culture and I can’t wait to perform my songs at this magical event."

The Ginger and Spice Festival is a four-day celebration of all things ginger and spice related, including gingerbread, secret recipes and a town with links to the ancient spice routes.

Visitors can enjoy a variety of stalls at The Spice Exchange market, as well as activities such as a heritage spice trail dedicated to exploring the town’s culinary history.

There will also be a Gin and Jazz Evening, foraging walks, and ginger-inspired competitions.

The Ginger and Spice Festival takes place from September 26 to September 29 in and around Market Drayton.

Ricky Ross and Heidi Brown will perform at Festival Drayton Centre on September 29.
