Bewdley's The Voice star Becky Hill announces tour
Bewdley lass Becky Hill is having a busy time having just released her new single Sunrise In The East and the accompanying video and now announcing her largest headline tour for the autumn.
The tour, which takes place throughout October, includes a homecoming date at Birmingham's O2 Institute 2 on October 12.
The 2012 semi-finalist on TV talent show The Voice has revealed her latest single - her first for Polydor Records - accompanied by a video shot in Vietnam and directed by Michael Holyk, whose previous credits include Jake Bugg, Sam Smith and Sundara Karma.
“Vietnam is one of my favourite places in the world,” the 24-year-old pop star reveals.“To get to do a video there was a dream come true. With 21-hour days and intense shooting it was also the hardest shoot I've ever had to do.
"The team were amazing, everyone knew the job they had to do no matter how little sleep we got. It's my pleasure to present my brand new video.”
Hill wrote the track with Maverick Sabre and Lost Boy and it was produced by ADP. It captures the exhilarating flourish of a new relationship, of discovering someone on a deeper level.
Sunrise In The East is also the first taste of her material from her forthcoming as-yet-untitled debut album which she is currently working on with the likes of MNEK, MJ Cole and Two Inch Punch.
Since starring as a teenager on The Voice, Hill has embarked on worldwide tours with Rudimental and experienced huge chart success through her collaborations with Wilkinson, Oliver Heldens, MK and more.
She is part of a new wave of British pop artists for whom the only way is on their terms, whose artistic vision is all their own. “I’ve really always written music for me instead of other people,” she added. “It’s taken about six years, but I’m ready now and want to get my experiences out there.
“I want people to see me as normal because the background I’ve come from has been very normal. When I used to listen to music in my bedroom, my favourite thing was when it described how I was feeling. I used to never feel alone because I had a song that knew how I felt. I want people to connect with my music like that.”
Tickets for Becky Hill's O2 Institute 2 show, priced at £15, are available here.
