The five-piece, who originally formed at school in Lichfield but now call the Second City their home, released Heaven Adores You last Friday on HolyHowl Records, their third release after debut single Feel and then Jaded.

The band's Luke Brickett Haycock said: “This song is one we all hold a little closer to our hearts and we spent so long drifting in and out of the studio to make it sound perfectly like it did in our heads.

"The song is a kind of retrospective view of an entity that you admire that isn’t on this big floating ball we call earth anymore, how they perceived themselves whilst affecting the world around them, and for us that was a message to Elliott Smith.”

To celebrate the release, Violet are supporting their HolyHowl label-mates Ivory Wave at Birmingham's O2 Institute 2 on November 2, with doors at 6pm. Also on the bill will be The Novus and Rai Kai Mercury.

All their music is available on the band's Spotify and Soundcloud pages, as well as iTunes, and a spokesperson said of their sound: "They come drenched in big sounds with an indie spark, combining influences that draw from 90s grunge to Britpop. Pedal-immersed guitars entwined with intricate drums and powerful basslines come together to create a unique ethereal, yet captivating, sound.

"The band are likened to the ambiance of Slowdive, the mystique of The Horrors and the melancholy of Suede."

Musical minds such as Clash and Dork, among others, gave their earlier releases acclaim and Steve Lamacq’s Radio 6 Music show also gave them some. Now they are hoping for the same attention for Heaven Adores You.

Tickets for the O2 Institute 2 show with Ivory Wave, priced at £9.50, are available here.
