Llanfyllin music festival in tune with the community
Llanfyllin Music Festival is celebrating more than 40 years in the town by welcoming the acclaimed Allegri Quartet in the summer.
The festival will be based at St Myllin’s Church with four concerts over two consecutive weekends.
As a change from previous years, the first concert will be on a Saturday instead of Friday – this year’s dates are July 27/28 and August 2 and 4.
Margaret Clennett, festival secretary, said: "For the final concert we will also welcome four guests from the South Bank Sinfonia. Founded in 2002, the SBS is a vibrant orchestra offering one year fellowships to some of the world’s most promising graduate musicians. They are regular collaborators with the Allegri, including performances at the Anghiari Festival, Tuscany."
Each year the festival get involved with schools and the community with workshops and mini masterclasses.
The programme of concerts includes music ranging from 18th – 20th centuries with something for all tastes and including, Haydn, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Gershwin and Mozart.
Early Bird tickets, only available until May 15, are £15 and there are more discounts for booking all four concerts.
