Live music bringing the party to Shrewsbury this Easter weekend

Two of the county's most popular Ska bands are to make an appearance at Albert’s Shed on Good Friday and Easter Saturday.

If you're looking for a bit of Madness on your Good Friday then put on your Doc Martens and raise those knees in the air to SkaBurst, playing all the classic party songs from chart-toppers like Bad Manners.

And on Easter Saturday, fans of UK chart-toppers The Specials will be delighted to see the return of Mighty Vipers.

Just like their contemporaries who reached number one in the UK album charts this year, the eight-piece party band Mighty Vipers' strong rhythm is perfect for dancing the night away and their high energy performance makes for an entertaining night even if you prefer to keep both feet on the ground.

Jamie Smith of the Mighty Vipers said: “The West Midlands has always been a hotbed for producing music that has a strong anti-racism message, just look at UB40 or The Specials.

"Taken from Jamaica in the 60s and reimagined decades later, there has never been a better time for us to promote Ska's timeless message of unity once again.

"I guess that’s why this kind of music still tops music charts and graces the covers of magazines, it encourages people to think and enjoy themselves while they’re doing it”.

David Gregg, General Manager at Albert’s Shed added: “This kind of party music is especially popular in our area and we expect both nights will be very busy.

"Mighty Vipers and SkaBurt have filled Albert’s Shed in Shrewsbury to capacity, but this Easter Bank Holiday weekend temperatures are expected to soar with droves of night-time revellers set to visit the town.

"To avoid disappointment we advise getting here before 9pm”.

Both events are free before 9pm.
