About 100 bikers are expected to head to the Tern Hill Mob Rally and Bike Show, near Market Drayton, on Saturday.

The event has replaced the annual Shires Show which was axed several years ago.

The show, which will take place opposite the Newcott services on the A41, features a host of bands and raises money for charity.

Ted Campbell, one of the organisers, said: “It used to be called the Shires Show and then we had some really big damp rainy shows about three or four years ago which wiped us out financially.

"We have decided to cut the size of the show and rebuild again.

"We used to raise money for the local hospice and the air ambulance. This year we hope to raise money for Combat Stress.

"We have nine localish bands playing on Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening. We also have a custom bike competition.

"We are now hoping for decent weather and some sunshine so we can have a barbeque and some beer. Hopefully we can have a nice chilled out day.

"If it doesn't rain we might get 100 bikes, but the turnout always depends on the weather."

The Shires Show used to attract about 3,000 people and it was where the ex-Queens Lancaster Regiment reunion took place.

Over the years the show donated over £30,000 to local charities like the Midlands Air Ambulance, Hope House and the Gobowen Spinal Unit.

Adult tickets for this weekend's event are £5 for adults and free for children.
