Oswestry castle a fairytale setting for the big day
Many people automatically think of summer as the season of weddings.
But the beauty of a medieval castle when the leaves on trees surrounding it start to change colour have led couples to go for Autumn weddings or civil partnerships this year.
Whittington Castle near Oswestry has been a popular wedding venue for about a decade with bride and grooms loving the romantic and picturesque venue.
Some even embrace the quirkiness of getting married in a 900-year-old Marcher castle, one of many built along the Shropshire/Welsh border and dress in medieval costume for their big day.
Sue Ellis, castle manager, said: "For centuries the castle's legends have been connected to stories of romance and love and the setting is superb for wedding photographs.
"In previous years the summer has always been the busiest time for weddings at the castle. However I think that last year the Autumn colours were so spectacular we have noticed a huge leap in the number of people wanting their wedding at this time of year."
