European champion Rob Van de Waal is shipping his monster machines across the channel from Holland to take part in the charity event at Marches Farm, Ruyton-XI-Towns on September 30 and October 1.

Organised by Shropshire businessman Gary Penton, the annual event raises thousands of pounds each year for Hope House and Severn Hospice.

It will be the sixth year of the event, which attracts competitors from areas stretching from Aberdeen to South Wales.

This year Dutch and European champion, Rob van der Waal, will bring his enormous machines, Maximum Risk and Terminator, over to Shropshire to take part.

Mr Penton said: "We are very lucky to have Rob coming along.

"This year we have a new, heavy duty sled that means the biggest tractors can compete.

There will still be the ordinary sled for tractors with between 12 horse power and 500 horse power.

"But getting the new sled means tractors from 600- 4,000 hp will now be taking part. It is set to be a fantastic weekend for both competitors and spectators.

It will be the first time that Mr Penton will have competed himself with his own tractor created from a Massey Ferguson and named, Big Boy's Toy.

"It is an incredible sport. The tractors are really fine tuned to enable them to pull huge loads. There are very tight health and safety rules as they are tested to the very edge of their capabilities.

"We are very grateful to all our sponsors who ensure that we make a lot of money for the hospices. We raised £23,000 last year and would like to top that sum this year."

Entrance to the event is £7 for a day ticket or £12 for a weekend ticket. Camping is available and entertainment on Saturday night is from Sonic Boom.

Tickets are available on the gate on both days.
