Irene Stasinsky, 88, from Market Drayton has produced artwork all her life as it runs in her family.

However as her arthritis got worse, she turned to increasing her poetry and has now produced enough poems to fill a book and illustrate it.

She has produced hundreds of humorous poems, and continues to do so despite spending the majority of her time at home and having mobility problems.

She said: "I've been an artist all my life and it runs in my family.

"My grandfather exhibited all over the world and did photography, and my cousin was also into art.

"It is just something I have done all my life, but now I have started to do more poetry, however I have still been able to produce the illustrations for it somehow.

"I've also done other things, such as put names onto the black parts of poppies of fallen soldiers, and other artistic things.

"People enjoy the poems as they're humorous.

"Some people tell me they don't like poetry, but when they read mine they do."

She moved to the area 35 years ago from Lancashire, and has lived all around the country in the past.

She has been part of the Market Drayton Art Society, and has been working up to compiling her book, but after possibly being able to get it published last month she was let down.

Irene has had good reviews of the work, and is hoping a publisher comes forward as soon as possible to get her work out there.

She said: "I was told someone was a publisher and they were interested, but they weren't actually a publisher and I was let down.

"I just want to appeal to anyone out there to come forward, as I have been told the work is really good.

"I love Market Drayton and I want to do something to put it on the map."
