Fieldbounce will take place at The Venue in Oswestry on May 5 next year and Scouting For Girls have already signed up to play at the inaugural event.

And festival director, Shawn Melusi, said there is more big names set to be released over the coming months.

"The festival will include chart-topping bands and artists to light up the main stage, while not forgetting our roots with local talent also on show," he said. "We want to create an outstanding line-up of acts that have performed on the biggest stages such as Glastonbury and V Festival.

"I think there's a gap in the market for something like this, especially after Osfest. The Stereophonics and Olly Murs have recently played in Wrexham, and Shrewsbury gets some good acts too, but here, right in the middle in Oswestry there isn't really anything."

Shawn hopes Fieldbounce will be even more successful than Osfest which sold 5,000 tickets at the height of its success and attracted Example, Razorlight, JLS and the Pigeon Detectives.

He said: "There's 10,000 tickets on sale and I really do think it will sell out. We're bringing the big names to Oswestry but for good value for money too, so I think people will really get behind it."

The 22-year-old from Ellesmere dreamt up the idea while travelling the world after finishing university.

"I want to do something a bit entrepreneurial," he added. "I had the idea for it when I was travelling around South Africa. It's a new challenge for me but I'm willing to try something new that I think will be good for the town.

"I started planning it about eight months ago so I'm just really excited now to get the word out. The Fieldbounce Facebook page has already got more than 3,000 likes and I've had really good feedback so far."

Shawn has teamed up with a number of local businesses who have sponsored the music festival and is aiming to raise as much money for charity along the way.

The first lot of early bird tickets are now on sale for £25 for adults and £20 for under 18s. A limited number of VIP tickets are also available for £65.
