Family affair under the big top as circus owner comes home to Oswestry
A circus owner from Oswestry has returned to her home town – and it is a family affair under the big top.
Tracy Jones founded Circus Funtasia with her now acrobat husband, Julio Nikolov, five years ago, taking their big top across the country.
Now 14-year-old daughter Nia is also following in their footsteps.
Back in Oswestry until Sunday, the circus is offering free tickets for its shows at Park Hall to all NHS workers and those in the emergency and armed services.
The couple say they wanted to give something back to the hard-working members of all front-line services.
They founded Circus Funtasia after both managing shows for 12 years.
Energy
“We thought that it was time to create our own show to take on the road,” Tracy said.
“It was the scariest thing that we have ever done but that now we are the happiest that we have ever been.”
“Our artistes and staff have worked so hard which has helped to create a show with incredible energy.”
Tracey, who was born in Welshpool and educated in Oswestry before joining the circus at 16.
She stressed there were no animal acts in the 90-minute show under the big top.
Acts include daredevil acrobats and motorcyclists, a geeky clown, high wire act and a ‘wheel of death’.
The circus will be holding shows at 5pm and 7.30pm today, 2pm and 5pm tomorrow and then at noon and 3pm on Sunday.
