Austin Seven marks ruby show
A 1935 Austin Seven Ruby is the perfect star of this year's 40th anniversary of the Oswestry Vintage Show.
The Ruby celebrations will be held on Saturday and Sunday at the Oswestry Showground and include some of the vehicle that were at the first show.
Organised by the Clwyd Veteran & Vintage Machinery Society the show began just outside Wrexham then moved to closer to the Shropshire border at The Plassey near Erbistock.
It outgrew the grounds and made its permanent home at Oswestry Showground.
Gordon Davies from the society said the organisers always make a special effort to ensure that the show will have attractions to appeal to everyone.
"There will be a free children's treasure hunt and free children's entertainment, along with a fun dog show," he said.
"As well as vintage and classic vehicles - steamers, cars, motor bikes, tractors, lorries, commercials, military, stationary engines, cycles and organs - there will be trade stands, a craft hall, model hall, and catering with a licensed bar. The outdoor displays will include birds of prey and Shire horses along with ring events.
"As the Sunday is Father's Day it would be a good present to treat your Dad to a lovely nostalgic day out." Mr Davies said.
“The model shed is a little boy’s dream where you can see the toys you once owned and wished you still had and browse around memorabilia."
It is his Austin Seven Ruby that will be celebrating the 40th anniversary.
"It was the Ruby colour when I bought it but it looked as if it had bee painted on with a yard brush. I completely stripped it down and rebuilt it."
The show opens at 10 a.m. both days and there is free parking. Tickets are Adults £7, Children £4, and Family tickets £15.
