Thousands of people flocked to the town centre for the two-day culinary showcase that has been running for more than a decade.

Organisers and community leaders were over the moon as hot weather prevailed during the weekend bringing tourists and local families out in their droves on Saturday.

Mayor of Oswestry Councillor Sandy Best, who officially opened the festival, said: "The streets were extremely busy. The fine weather helps as well. there was a really good atmosphere. We were heaving with people and the TNS fun day was also going on at the same time which brought folks in.

"Among the things that I liked was the number of young people at the food festival with stalls. I think that's really encouraging.

"We had quite a mixture of stalls that were actually providing something to eat.

"Some of them, such as the flat bread stand, had a queue of people every time I walked pass. I was really impressed. There were a lot of drinks traders as well., including wine, cider and the gin people.

"I got chatting to many of the stallholders to thank them for coming, but some were so busy I couldn't get to them. Someone came al the way from Salford.

"The festival was really buzzing this year. The streets were heaving. It's been going for about 12 years, but last year the weather wasn't so kind as it was incredibly windy."
