The day long event is put on by the Llanymynech Amateur Dramatic Society to encourage people to get involved, whether on stage or behind the scenes.

Organisers say everyone is welcome, regardless of their experience, for a day of learning new skills and enjoying each other’s company.

The workshop will be held at Pant Memorial Institute and is completely free.

Sessions will include fun warm-up games, voice exercises, stage make-up, performing poetry, and exploring the 'world of the play'.

Alison Utting from the society, said: "There is no pressure to join in any session unless you feel comfortable. If you fancy being involved in theatre but would rather take a backstage role, that’s fine too.

"The fun starts at 10am and will finish by 4pm. You will need a packed lunch and wear comfortable clothing.

The society is a thriving drama group based in Llanymynech and performing in venues throughout Shropshire and mid-Wales.

"Alison said: "Established in 1992, this small group with big aspirations soon gained a reputation for delivering top quality theatre as well as encouraging local writers, musicians and other creatives."

The programme for 2019 includes an original musical piece about Shropshire women, Dirty Dusting, Shakespeare’s Richard III, and An Inspector Calls by J.B.Priestley.

"Whether you have a hidden dramatic streak, want to make new friends or just fancy trying something new, this drama workshop could be just the thing to brighten up your New Year."
