Paul Weller's latest album a 'call for peace'
The singer also offered his thoughts on Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn
Singer Paul Weller has revealed his upcoming album will be a “call for peace”.
The former Jam frontman announced A Kind Revolution earlier this week, alongside a UK arena tour for 2017.
Speaking about the record as he took part in a charity concert at the Royal Albert Hall for the Teenage Cancer Trust on Friday night, Paul told the Press Association: “It’s a revolution of the soul.”
“It’s a kind revolution that’s born out of compassion and love for each other as opposed to revolutions that kill loads more f****** people,” he said, adding: “Like a call for peace.
“I just think that people need to realise that we’re all part of the same being. I don’t like the way politics or religion divides people.”
Asked if Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, who Paul supported at a Concerts For Corbyn gig last year, could provide a more peaceful uprising, the musician said: “I think Corbyn’s alright, I like the fact he is not a little liberal, red-faced public schoolboy like most of the other f******.
“But I don’t think the answers are in any one party or person. I think it’s down to us as humans, as people to change things.”
The record, which is released in May, is Paul’s follow-up to 2015′s Saturns Pattern and the singer-songwriter revealed he is already working on another album for next year.
He said: “It’s a different concept, an acoustic album and orchestrated, more stripped down, some really lovely melodies.”
