Fans of ITV News have welcomed the bulletin back to the 10pm timeslot as The Nightly Show was pushed back to make way for special election coverage.

The variety show has nudged the news back half an hour since its launch in February but viewers were pleasantly surprised to see it back in place following Prime Minister Theresa May’s announcement of a snap general election.

Tom Bradby anchored an hour-long news programme at 10pm, meaning The Nightly Show, which is this week hosted by Dermot O’Leary, moved back an hour.

The chat show has struggled since its launch earlier this year as temporary hosts David Walliams and John Bishop failed to impress viewers, while Bradley Walsh and Gordon Ramsay have proved more popular choices.
