The first trailer for Darkest Hour has been released, giving a sneak peek at Gary Oldman as Winston Churchill.
Oldman will play one of Britain’s most celebrated prime ministers in the film which follows Churchill taking office and his baptism of fire as he faced the choice between negotiating a peace treaty with Nazi Germany, or fighting for his ideals.
The clip shows an almost-unrecognisable Oldman – who has bulked up and perfected Churchill’s characteristic style of speech.
It includes part of his famous “we shall fight on the beaches” speech to Parliament.
Pride And Prejudice helmer Joe Wright has directed the film, which is due in cinemas on January 12.
