Craig Revel Horwood is to juggle his Strictly Come Dancing judging duties with the West End role of Miss Hannigan in Annie.

The choreographer will take over from comedian Miranda Hart as the child-hating orphanage boss in the play at the Piccadilly Theatre.

Best known as the hard-to-please and snarky judge on Strictly, Revel Horwood previously starred in Nikolai Foster’s production of Annie which toured the UK in 2015.

The part was made famous by Carol Burnett in the 1982 film version of the Broadway musical, which starred Albert Finney as Daddy Warbucks, the benefactor of orphan Annie.

Revel Horwood said: “I am so pleased to be returning to the West End, especially to a role I had such a brilliant time performing on tour.

“Miss Hannigan is evil, sassy and fab-u-lous.

“It will be a real challenge for me not to take her man-hungry, wicked ways to the Strictly judging panel each Saturday night – though I am sure my fellow judges will keep me in check. I can’t wait to get started.”

Revel Horwood’s previous West End roles include Munkustrap in Cats, Dance Captain in Miss Saigon and Harry in Crazy For You.

The Piccadilly Theatre production of Annie has been extended until February 18 2018.

Strictly Come Dancing is yet to get an official start date although the show typically launches towards the end of September.
