Dame Julie Walters praises ‘ingenious’ campaign as she backs charity

The big names are coming out to back a good cause.

Dame Julie Walters, Dame Judi Dench and Joanna Lumley are among a host of stars hoping to inspire the nation to get together to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The stage and screen stalwarts are backing the organisation’s flagship fundraising event, the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, to help the charity support people living with cancer.

Dame Julie said: “The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is ingenious, simple and fun and is all about people coming together.

Posing with Love a Cuppa mugs from Marks and Spencer, Dame Julie, Dame Judi and Lumley were photographed by celebrity photographer Nicky Johnston for the campaign.

Loose Women’s Lisa Riley, TV chef James Martin, actor Les Dennis and musical star Elaine Paige are also among the celebrities doing their bit for the charity drive, which encourages people to host or attend a coffee morning to raise money.

The charity, which receives no government funding, raised more than £29.5 million in 2016 to fund the staff needed to offer care across the country.
