Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid have confirmed they have split up.

The pair – who first got together in November 2015 – shared separate statements announcing they had broken up on Tuesday following reports of the split in The Sun.

Former One Direction star Malik, 25, said he had a “huge amount of respect and adoration” for US model Hadid in a statement on Twitter.

He added the 22-year-old “has such an incredible soul”.

“I’m grateful to all of our fans for respecting this difficult decision and our privacy at this time, we wish this news could have come from us first,” he wrote.

Hadid shared a separate statement saying she was “forever grateful for the love, time and life lessons” her and Malik enjoyed.

“I want nothing but the best for him and will continue to support him as a friend that I have immense respect and love for.

“As for the future, whatever’s meant to be will always be,” she added.

Malik was previously engaged to Little Mix star Perrie Edwards.
