Adam Collard, Darylle Sargeant, Alex Miller and Ellie Jones have been dumped from Love Island in the latest mass culling.

The contestants learned in Thursday’s episode of the reality dating show that four islanders would be leaving the villa and that the public had been voting for their favourite couple.

They were told that the three couples with the fewest votes risked being dumped from the island and that singletons Wes Nelson and Georgia Steel were exempt from eviction, and also had the power to save two people by recoupling with them.

The couples up for elimination were revealed to be Megan Barton Hanson and Alex, Ellie and Sam Bird, and Adam and Darylle.

After deliberating, Georgia opted to recouple with Sam, and Wes chose Megan, who he had been trying to win back in recent days after she sparked a relationship with new boy Alex.

Wes had enjoyed a brief romance with Megan after ending his weeks-long relationship with Laura Anderson, but he was saddened to see she had moved on with newcomer Alex when he returned from makeshift villa Casa Amor after several days.

Following a bit of “grafting” on his part, and with the shock dumping, Wes and Megan are now a couple.

Alex said of his exit from the villa: “It’s a bit gutting leaving, especially leaving someone I had a connection with in there.

“It would have been easier if it had been Megan’s choice, and not a choice that got taken out of both of our hands. I could have dealt with that better.”

He added that he thinks if it had been Megan’s choice, they “would have stayed together based on the chats we had and the way we got on, we were proper close.”

Adam, the only original Love Island contestant booted in the latest dumping, said that he thinks Wes choosing Megan is “very bold”.

“Considering Megan has already strayed before, it might happen again,” he said, adding that he approves of Georgia and Sam as a “cute” couple.

He also said he is “gutted” to leave the villa, but that he is looking forward to seeing his family and reuniting with his former Love Island partner Zara McDermott.

Darylle – who joined the programme last week by entering Casa Amor – said of Adam: “I don’t think I’d pursue anything romantic with Adam. His head is elsewhere.

“I’m not the kind of girl to chase something that isn’t reciprocated, but I’m not bitter about that. I’m super happy for him and wish him all the best. I hope he can pursue something with Zara and be happy.”

Ellie, who went into the programme last week as Jack Fincham’s former flame and ruffled the feathers of his new girlfriend Dani Dyer, praised the new couple and said she thinks they have what it takes to go on and win the series.

“I think Jack and Dani are perfect for each other, so I couldn’t say anything but nice things about them,” she said.

Love Island continues on ITV2.
