Olly Murs has said he would love to follow in the footsteps of Adele and Sam Smith by penning the theme tune for the next James Bond movie.

Speaking at the premiere of Johnny English Strikes Again, the singer and Voice UK coach, 34, said it would be “incredible”, adding he would “love to do that”.

The Heart Skips A Beat singer added that most British artists wanted a chance to soundtrack the iconic spy series and join the ranks of Tina Turner, Madonna and Shirley Bassey.

He said: “We would all want the James Bond theme, of course. That’s what most artists, especially English artists, want.

“We always aim for that moment.

“I would love that to happen, it would be incredible.

“I’m just thankful that I have got this film and it’s really great they wanted me to be part of it.”

He added that it was a pleasure to meet Rowan Atkinson, who reprises his role as the hapless spy in the third instalment of the comedy series, describing him as “very suave, very cool, very calm”.

Murs, whose upbeat new track Moves featuring Snoop Dogg soundtracks the film’s end credits, also revealed he had not actually spent time in the studio with the hip hop star, who recorded his verse remotely.

However, he added this might have been a blessing is disguise, as his mother would never have approved of their “antics”.

He said: “Working with Snoop was amazing but he didn’t unfortunately turn up for the video, sadly. But I’m so thankful he’s on the record.

“It would have been an experience. I’m not sure my mum would have been happy with the antics. I think she’s a bit happy I didn’t get a chance to meet him.

“I’m really proud the song is in this film because it’s a British film. Some artists get it all the time but I’ve been doing this for 10 years so this is a big deal for me.”

Johnny English Strikes Again is due for release in cinemas on October 5.
