Jamie Redknapp has said he would not take part in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! because his father is too hard an act to follow.

Harry Redknapp won the 2018 series of the hit ITV show after winning fans over with his sense of humour and love for his wife Sandra.

Former footballer Jamie confirmed he had been asked to take part in the show but told ITV’s Good Morning Britain: “I think I would probably show my true colours.”

He added: “I haven’t got a side to hide, but following Dad…”

However, he did say his children, who he shares with ex-wife Louise Redknapp, would love it if he went into the jungle.

He said: “They would, I’m sure Charlie would, my eldest son, he would love that.

“But to follow Dad would have been difficult because he was so funny and I haven’t got a Sandra.

“That whole moment that they had, it was really lovely, it was really nice to see him and for people to see he’s a great guy and for people to see how funny he is.”

Redknapp added it was “emotional” watching his parents reunite in the jungle on the show, saying: “I couldn’t help but well up, I love them both dearly.

“Dad is not really that emotional, as a kid growing up he was an amazing dad but he never really was one to seem emotional or to see him in tears.

“It was a really nice moment to see Mum there and I think it’s changed their lives, they loved it.”

Redknapp also denied that he is taking part in ITV series The Masked Singer, despite speculation he is performing as the tree.

He said: “No, it’s not me. I didn’t even know what it was. I kept getting messages going ‘Are you a tree?’ I am not a tree, unfortunately.”
