Inbetweeners won’t be reuniting, says Simon Bird
The comedy show was a success with critics and viewers.
The Inbetweeners star Simon Bird has said the show will not be following in the footsteps of Gavin & Stacey with a reunion.
The sitcom about four hapless sixth-form pupils originally ran on E4 for three series from 2008 until 2010. It went on to spawn two spin-off films.
Bird, who played Will McKenzie, told ITV show Lorraine that The Inbetweeners would be difficult to script with grown-up characters.
He said: “I think the reason that show worked is because the characters are kids, so they could say the terrible, awful things they said.
“Whereas if the characters were in their mid to late 30s, it’s slightly different!”
The Inbetweeners was a success with critics and viewers, winning a Bafta TV Award and a British Comedy Award.
The actor and his co-stars recently took part in a 10th anniversary interview special.
