Madonna delivers coronavirus message from her bath
The singer shared her thoughts in a video message on Instagram.
Madonna has called Covid-19 “the great equaliser” in a video message delivered from her bath.
The 61-year-old singer is seen surrounded by rose petals as she sits in a tub full of water and talks about the coronavirus and its impact in a video posted to her nearly 15 million Instagram followers.
She says: “That’s the thing about Covid-19, it doesn’t care how rich you are, how famous you are, how funny you are, how smart you are, where you live, how old you are, what amazing stories you can tell – it’s the great equaliser. And what’s terrible about it is what’s great about it.
“What’s terrible about it is it’s made us all equal in many ways, and what’s wonderful about it is that it’s made us all equal in many ways.”
She ends the message saying: “Like I used to say at the end of Human Nature every night, we’re all in the same boat and if the ship goes down we’re all going down together.”
Alongside the video she wrote: “No-Discrimination- Covid-19!! #quarantine #covid_19 #staysafe #becreative #brianeno”.
The Vogue singer is among the many musicians forced to cancel tour dates due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The March 10 and 11 dates of her Madame X tour in Paris were cancelled.
A statement on her official website said: “Following official notification from the Office of the Police this morning prohibiting all events with an audience attendance of over 1000, Live Nation regrets to announce the final two Madame X performances previously re-scheduled to 10-March and 11-March are forced to be cancelled.
“Tickets are refundable at point of purchase. We regret the disappointment to fans”.
