H Evans & Son of Winnington Hall, Halfway House had applied to Shropshire Council for planning permission for four pods and an amenity building which would house showers, toilets, a kitchen and a living room.

Permission was granted this week and now the family can diversify from their mixed farming business.

The pods, which will be timber clad and only have room for sleeping in, will be placed on land close to the access road for the farm.

A planning document provided by Berry's on behalf of the family and submitted to the council, states: "The farm business needs to diversify in order to ensure its longevity. A small glamping site containing four units and amenity building will provide this diversification opportunity. The proposal will create an alternative income for the farm business, and will create a part-time management / cleaning / maintenance role which will be fulfilled by the family.

"The pods will measure 3.6 metres in length, 2.5 metres in width and 2.6 metres to the maximum ridge height and will only be large enough for bedding, as a proposed amenity building will serve the site.

"The amenity building will resemble a stable shelter and will be clad in timber boarding and will contain kitchen/ living space, a W.C and wet rooms.

"The proposed field that will accommodate the glamping site is located immediately south of Winnington Hall. The field is currently down pasture utilised for seasonal grazing. The grazing is proposed to continue alongside the glamping."
