Shrewsbury teen reaches Miss England semi-finals
A teenager from Shropshire has qualified for the semi-final of Miss England 2018.
Emma Pollard, from Shrewsbury, is the current Miss Shropshire and will now go onto represent the county at the competition in July.
The 19-year-old finished in the top 10 in the talent round and top model categories last year, and hopes to do one better this year.
She said: "Last year was an incredible experience. I was so grateful to have the opportunity to represent Shropshire in such a prestigious national event and to raise money for such a worthy cause, Beauty With a Purpose.
"It was an amazing experience and I am looking forward to trying to reach the final again this year."
Away from the catwalk, Emma, who studied at Shrewsbury College Sixth Form, plays netball and piano, and won the talent round last year for playing the instrument blindfolded.
She was also awarded Netball Player of the Year and Sportswomen of the Year at her old school, Shrewsbury Girls High School.
She is raising money for Beauty With a Purpose which supports humanitarian projects across the world.
The semi-finals will be held at Kelham Hall, near Newark, on July 3.
