Second Oktoberfest brings crowds to Shrewsbury's Quarry
Beer lovers have been pouring into Shrewsbury's Quarry Park to sample some of the best in local beverages.
The second Oktoberfest held in the town is the chance to say cheers to Autumn and enjoy three days of music and festivities.
Beth Heath, from organisers Shropshire Festivals, said despite Friday's bad weather the festival had brought in huge crowds on Saturday.
Some revellers took the German Oktoberfest theme to heart and dressed in lederhosen for the day.
They included couple Peter and Carmel Whiting from Shrewsbury who were joined by uni friend Ben Vaughan from Manchester.
"I love it in Shrewsbury and the festival is great," he said.
Ross Griffiths from Shrewsbury added: "The organisation is better than last year, it's a great event."
"It is just what the town needs."
Entertainment at the event included car pool karaoke, giant board games and a mini scare-fest from Immersion Events.
Sophie Ritching, from the Shrewsbury prison-based company, said 200 people had been through the Halloween tunnels in the first hour.
"We wanted to give people just a taste of what we will have at Scare Fest at the prison this month," she added.
Friends Hollie Woodhouse, Sarah Cound and Kealey Lewis from Clee Hill were among the crowds on Saturday
The trio all have young children and said Oktoberfest was a perfect chance to enjoy rare time away from the family.
Kealey said: "Its really nice to have a day out, the three of us. We have been able to relax and enjoy ourselves and we have met some lovely people."
The festival is also a chance for Shropshire producers to showcase their food and drink.
Craven Arms-based Wood's brewery used the festival for the final of its Shropshire Lad and Shropshire Lass competition.
Brewery owner Stephen O'Neill, said: "We have run the competition as festivals throughout the summer and brought the finalists to Oktoberfest.
"They took part is a series of tests including a Shropshire quiz, putting towns on a map, and doing taste tests of beers and also sausages."
But the event is not just about beer, with a pop-up gindifferent bar and Paso-Prima wines stand among the many stalls in the Quarry.
