Former England captain David Gower heading to Shrewsbury
Former England cricket captain David Gower will be visiting the county as part of his nationwide debut solo tour next year.
Gower OBE, who played 117 test matches for his country is set to begin touring with his show 'On The Front Foot' in March next year, with 14 dates lined up.
He will appear at Theatre Severn's Walker Theatre on May 22, and tickets are currently on sale.
Gower, who is known as one of the most stylish left-handed batsmen of all time, will share his thoughts on the current state of world cricket.
He will also tell stories of his own sporting career, from captaining his national team to victory in the Ashes, to memories such as flying a Tiger Moth over Queensland.
His career has stretched beyond cricket, and he is now a main broadcaster for Sky Sports Cricket's international coverage.
He spent five years as a commentator for BBC, also presenting Gower’s Cricket Monthly and David Gower’s Cricket Weekly on BBC 5Live.
During this time Gower was also team captain opposite Gary Lineker on BBC TV’s hit show They Think It’s All Over.
After two years as the Sunday Express cricket correspondent, and two more as a columnist for the Sunday Telegraph he then wrote a column for the Sunday Times for ten years.
