The Evening with the Rat Pack takes place at 7pm on Friday, June 30, at Shobdon Airfield, features ITV weather presenter Des Coleman.

Four local businesses are also supporting the event, with Bestparks, the Food and Flying Festival’s main sponsors, Tiger Helicopters, Jaques Int Ltd, and Corbett Farms agreeing to joint-sponsor the evening’s entertainment.

Festival organiser, Terry Teale said: “We’re really pleased to be able to support a cause so local to the festival showground this year and to get local business on board makes it a real community event. We hope people will come and help us support such a good cause.”

Glenn Jones from Bestparks said: “One of our parks, Pearl Lake, is right in the heart of Shobdon. You can virtually see the proposed site of the playground from where we are. We’re thrilled to be able to support something so local.”

One of the mums behind the playground appeal, Donna Davies, said: “We came up with the idea late last year and there is a lot of support for a redeveloped playground in the village. All we need to do now is raise the £25,000 we need to do what we want with it. It’s great to have the support of the food and flying festival and local businesses. It should also be a fantastic night."

The show, starring Des Coleman is celebrating its 20th year in 2017 and recently won a coveted industry award which named it the best tribute show in the UK.
