Sky's the limit of Ludlow Dog Day
Dog lovers will want to look to the skies next week for the chance to win tickets to a canine extravaganza.
A small plane with a large banner will be flying around the region on Saturday, July 22, the day before Ludlow Dog Day.
The event is held at Stokesay Court, between Ludlow and Craven Arms, and sees thousands of visitors and their dogs descend on the area each year, raising tens of thousands for organisers Ludlow Rotary Club.
Arnoud Roele, speaking for the rotary club, said a plane and pilot will fly down from Liverpool to Shobdon Airfield, near Leominster to pick up the Ludlow Dog Day banner before flying around the south Shropshire area for a couple of hours.
He said: "Four free tickets are on offer to the lucky winner of those that email the address info@ludlowdogday.org.uk, stating the time and their location when seeing the plane and banner.
"All valid emails will be put in a hat on Saturday evening and the lucky winner will receive the free tickets for the event.
"The plane and banner will fly over towns and villages in south Shropshire, north Herefordshire, Worcestershire and the Welsh border, as a final reminder that there will be a fun day out for all who own or enjoy dogs.
"This sky-high idea will help gain even more money for our chosen charities, the more that come to enjoy, the more we can give to worthy causes.
"So, those who want free tickets, look up on Saturday," he said.
Now in its fourth year, Ludlow Dog Day draws dogs and their owners from near and far as well as raising over £20,000.00 for local charities
"Held in the beautiful and normally private gardens of Stokesay Court the day is packed full of fun and interest for dogs and humans with lots to do, see, eat and enjoy," Mr Roele said.
Competitions will include scruffiest mutt, fastest sausage eater, waggiest tail, and best trick.
For those who enjoy watching trained dogs in action there is a full programme of dog displays including flyball, dog obedience and assistance dogs. There will also be opportunities for owners of gun dogs to show their dog’s ability to retrieve.
