But Daniel Adomako has just come to Telford and his hoping to make new singing connections in the borough.

Originally from Ghana, Daniel and his family moved to Italy in 2004.

A passionate singer, he tried his luck on the television series, before going on to record an album.

He has now moved to Dawley with his family.

He said: "My sister always wanted to study here so my dad decided to move to the UK and we have friends and family here already so he thought of coming to Telford.

"We're a very tight family, so I couldn't help but come with my family to Telford."

Daniel has been in the county since September but said he has been travelling a lot since he came.

He now wants to grow his singing in the UK.

He said: "Singing in Africa is very common, like we all sing, It's like breathing for us. I started in my church choir and then we moved to Italy in 2004.

"I couldn't speak Italian, so all I used to do at school was disturb the classes by singing all the time. Our music teacher ran and conducted the choir so she thought I could help with that. She invited me along and I liked it.

"I sang with them for a very long time, and after that in 2009 I decided to do something else. I entered some local music competitions and surprisingly they all went very well, I used to win them.

"In 2009 I went in for X factor Italia. I got through four auditions but it didn't go well, one of the judges didn't like me that much because I kinda have a weird voice, I have a female vocal, so they let me go and called me back the next year. I went through the home-visit audition, but they didn't take me. I decided to try Italia's Got Talent.

"The first audition went very well, I got a standing ovation from the audience and the judges were crying, I wasn't expecting it, I didn't know how that happened. I sang hallelujah by Leonard Cohen.

"My father didn't really like me doing this, he'd rather I became a waiter or a barista, rather than hanging around and singing. So it was tough, but when I won the show he kind of admitted he liked my singing

"That was four years ago, so after the show I signed a contract with Sony music Italia, made an album but unfortunately it was entirely in Italian and Italian music doesn't do well outside of Italy.

"After two years I had to split up with them, I was thinking of doing something more international so I went my own way and have done something in English as well."
