People travelled from as far as Glasgow and Cardiff to meet friends and stars at the T Zone convention at Telford International Centre.

Among the celebrities appearing at the convention were Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell, best known for roles in Prison Break and Legends of Tomorrow, David Harewood from Supergirl and Homeland and Brianna Hildebrand who appeared in recent box-office smash Deadpool.

Though the show had been blighted before it even began after a number of its top stars dropped out, organisers and attendees said they had still enjoyed the convention.

On Thursday, a post on the show's website announced that stars Jennifer Morrisson, Adrianne Palicki, Elizabeth Henstridge, Colin O’Donoghue and Chyler Leigh would no longer be attending.

But Lindsay Brown, one of the organisers of the event, said that even though they as organisers had been disappointed, fans were still having a good time.

She said: "It has been going really well, we've had a good turnout.

"The fans are like a big family so they've still been coming to meet up and we've had a lot of cos players."

Thousands of people are expected to attend the festival, which ran on Saturday and Sunday.

And there were huge numbers of cos players, fans who like to create costumes of characters from films, TV programmes and comics.

Hhuge queues had built up of fans wanting to meet some of the stars of their favourite shows.

Among those dressing up was Lisa Woodman, 27, who brought with her a little Disney magic and had travelled from Leyland with sister Vikki, 29.

They are both big iZombie fans and had travelled from Lancashire particularly to meet with cast members.

As soon as they arrived at the convention they had joined queues to get autographs and chat with the stars of the show.

Lisa said: "We've only been going to conventions for about a year but we've already been to places like Preston and Cardiff for conventions.

"We've always wanted to do cos play and I've started to enter competitions with my costumes as well."

Friends Colin John, 19, Linzi Griffiths, 24, and Stefanie Dicrouce, 32, who had travelled from Limerick in Ireland, were meeting for the first time in Telford.

They were dressed as Alexander Hamilton from the musical Hamilton, the X-Men's Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Mila from Once Upon a Time respectively.

They met on web blogging site Tumblr over their shared love of the series Once Upon a Time and had come together with other friends met online.

Linzie, from Selby, said: "Conventions are nice because you can come and meet other people from the same fandom.

"You probably only see these people two or three times a year but you talk to them all the time."

Colin, from Cardiff, added: "It is great to meet people face to face."

For Helen White, from Sendshill, the convention was only round the corner.

She had dressed as Steampunk Loki, a costume of her own creation based on the Avengers baddie and was joined by friend Thomas Jones from Holywell in North Wales, dressed as Thor.

He said: "We met at a Comic Con."

Helen added: "This is a good little convention, we were here for the MCM Midlands earlier this year."

Some of the youngest Cos Players were sisters Jessica, six, and Abby Graham, four.

Along with little sister Bonnie, one, they had travelled from just outside Glasgow with parents Lynsey and Ryan.

They were dressed as Lincoln Burrows and Michael Scofield from Prison Break, played in the show by star attendees Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller.

Lynsey said: "We travelled down on Thursday for the convention. We've been having a good time.

"We really came for Dominic Purcell, we've met him and had an autograph and now Jessica has been in the lounge to met him with her dad.

"The girls love the events and we get to pick up a few trinkets.

"We were in Birmingham a few weeks ago and Blackburn earlier in the year."

Selling goods at the show was Neil Howarth from Blackburn with his stall BBT Clothing.

He said: "It is a full-time job, selling online at events. It has been quite good so far."

"I've been to Telford a couple of times, it is good for conventions.
