Sheep racing will be a regular feature at Telford’s Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom during the school half term holidays

Hundreds of visitors beat a path to the zoo at Preston on the Weald Moors to see the four-legged competitors tackle the course.

And there were plenty of cheers and applause as the winner Gromit Shaun nudged rival Hopeful Harry into second place during the event that saw two races showcased for the bank holiday.

Hoo Farm owner Will Dorrell says: "The sheep races have gone down really well despite the weather not being massively helpful this time round, but it a lot better than it could have been. We had about 400 people in which is a big bonus.

" Everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves. All the kids got involved with the sheep races were cheering along. The shearing races and the spinning were also a huge hit with visitors."

Mr Dorrell says the races will be repeated in the coming days. It is a feature during school holidays and on weekends for the tourist season.

The attraction was named the top place to see out of 36 in Telford & Wrekin in a recent Trip Advisor online survey which is based on feedback given by visitors.
