The pop-up beach will be set up for 10 days at Southwater

The town centre’s £250 million Southwater development will have a pop up beach for 10 days starting next Saturday.

Brazilian cuisine will be on offer at the beach on the first weekend. The beach bar run by Explorer Drinks will be open daily serving hot, soft and alcoholic drinks along with waffles with a variety of toppings.

For the final weekend, Smoked Shropshire will be there to celebrate the end of the school year with a barbecue.

Councillor Shaun Davies, council leader, said: “Since Southwater opened, we have been committed to providing entertainment and events for our community and visitors that is appropriate to the time of year and the pop up beach is a natural addition to that.

“It will give residents the chance to enjoy a feel of being at the seaside in the largest landlocked county in the country. We hope it will be enjoyed by people of all ages for the 10 days that it is here.”

Southwater Beach will open at 11am next Saturday and will be located by the entrance to Telford Town Park by Southwater Lake.

Opening hours will be 11am to 8pm for the first weekend, 11am to 6pm Monday to Wednesday and then 11am to 8pm for the remainder. It will close at 8pm on July 23.
