All things Volkswagen at Telford camper van show
It was all things Volkswagen over the weekend as camper van enthusiasts from across the country revved along to Telford.
The Camper Mart event took place at the Telford International Centre – with thousands in attendance throughout the day.
VW converters, retailers, traders and enthusiasts were among those in attendance at the family friendly event, which took place on Sunday.
It was running alongside the Tattoo Freeze event and the hall was with everything Volkswagen camper van lovers could want, including a variety of weird, wacky and wonderful designs.
Organiser Alice Richardson, aged 25, from Chester, was delighted with the show and turnout – adding that they were up on ticket sales from the year before.
"We start the year with Camper Mart which is an all trade, VW enthusiasts show. We have been running the event for six years and it's one of the busiest places to come and chat to people.
"Everything from wheels to roofs to awnings – you can find everything you need. We were expected about 5,000 people coming through the doors.
"There are people who just want to come and look at beautiful cars. People take great pride in showing off their vehicles. It's really just an event where you can chat to like-minded people.
"Whether you're new to it or have been interested in VW for 50 years – there is always something new to learn.
"I think people love camper vans because it's something about being out in the great outdoors as well as taking pride in your vehicle. People are so excited about their own projects."
The aim of the event is to cater for those who are restoring, maintaining, customising or just interested in owning a Volkswagen Camper.
There was a dedicated for sale section at the back of the venue for those in the market for a new camper as well as entertainment including BMX displays for all the family.
The organisers of Camper Mart also run the Camper Jam festival, which will take place at Weston Park from July 6 to 8.
Among those exhibiting at the show was Marion Burrell, 47 from North Devon with her husband Buzz, 44.
The pair were renting out their unique silver Retro Tourer camper throughout the day.
Mrs Burrell said: "We're based in North Devon and my husband builds the motorhomes. It's really spacious and they sleep four people – you can even stand up them and make a cup of tea!
"My favourite thing about camper vans is going somewhere where there's no WiFi. You spend time with your family and it's really nice. I quite like being able to talk to my family again!
"The atmosphere is great and there's been lots of lovely people coming by and chatting with us."
