Telford’s Got Talent: Finalists compete for £500

The stage is set for the finals of the Telford's Got Talent contest which will see 19 acts face-off for a chance to win the £500 cash prize.

Performers will include an opera singer, hip hop and street dance groups, magicians and a rock band in a showdown at The Place, in Oakengates, on Friday night in front of judges Gogglebox star Sandra Martin, DJ Lynton McLean and leader of Telford & Wrekin Council, Councillor Shaun Davies and businesswoman Jenny Edge.

The finalists are singers Keira Crockett, Hayden and Joe, Libby Ashford, Cassidy, Nathan Morton, Intrigue, Louisa Warburton, Billie Stockley, Kasey Laming, Emily Duff; dancers Laura Ellis, Offending Moms, Entourage, Missy, Meesha Garbett, Full Out; choir Raise the Roof; magic act Reece and Abi; and rock group The Many.

Organisers, the Dennis-Miller family, say the semi-finals held last month featuring 40 contestants was a success.

"We had 40 acts attend, and over 120 family and friends of the contestants join us. We now have 19 acts in the final who are all very excited," said Shaquille Dennis-Miller.

"We will also be joined by the Mayor of Telford & Wrekin councillor Raj Mehta who will be presenting the winner with the prize on the night."

The eventual winner will get £500 cash and a trophy, and a chance to perform at the town centre Christmas lights switch on party and Shropfest on July 7, in Dale Park, in Ironbridge.

The talent show is being held as part of Telford's 50th birthday celebrations and will be followed by a Telford's Got Talent After Party at Oxygen Nightclub. The audience will receive a colour wrist band which will give them free entry to the club.

Mr Miller, who previously performed on TV’s Paul O’Grady show, his siblings Anton Miller, Tannisha Dennis, and Jahmalichi Miller will be the opening act for the show which will start at 7.30pm.
