New comedy on way to Telford theatre
Last minute preparations are being made ahead of a new comedy coming to a community theatre.
The cast of Cheshire Cats have been busy rehearsing in preparation for three performances of the show at The Little Theatre in Donnington, Telford.
The play, by Gail Young, follows the Cheshire Cats – a team of women, as they speed walk their way to fundraising success in the London Moonwalk.
Raising money for breast cancer research, they attempt to walk 13 miles across the capital in record time in their decorated bras and posh new trainers.
The performances, which promise plenty of laughs and a few tears, will be running from May 18 to 20.
The play is also hoping to raise money for a good cause and proceeds from the production will support Telford Princess Royal Hospital's breast cancer research fund.
Vikki Lee, spokeswoman for the theatre, said: "The focus of the play is centred around the individual stories of each woman, finding out why they want to raise money for breast cancer – something which will ring true with the many thousands of women who participate in either the moonwalk or race for life each year. "The Little Theatre has recently been lucky enough to have the support from the Shropshire Star after being chosen as one the of the Cash for your Community charities.
"After being on the receiving end of such a generous fundraising event, we thought it would be nice to give something back as well.
"Therefore, at each performance of Cheshire Cats we will be supporting the local Princess Royal Hospital breast cancer research fund."
The shows will be at 7.30pm on all three dates.
Tickets cost £6.
They are available online at www.littletheatredonnington.co.uk or by calling 01952 407959.
From September 21 to 23, there will also be performances of Edith in the Dark, a gothic thriller, at the venue.
The theatre will stage a musical as its final production of the year in November.
Singin' in the Rain will run between November 2 and 4.
