TV comic Milton Jones is to headline a new night of comedy in Whitchurch.

The madcap one-liner act, who has appeared on the likes of Mock The Week and Live At The Apollo, will take centre stage at Whitchurch Civic Centre on November 23.

Tickets went on sale yesterday and are expected to be snapped up quickly.

Organisers hope “Live At The Civic” will run quarterly and have already lined up another TV heavyweight to appear in January at the venue if the first night goes well.

Jones will be supported on the night by Paul Thorne, a veteran headliner at The Comedy Store who has gigged all over the world in a glittering career, and former English Comedian of the Year finalist Eddy Brimson.

It will be hosted by Wayne Beese, whose company Funny Beeseness are putting on the shows.

Beese, a former Shropshire Star reporter, from Dudley, said: “We’re really excited to be expanding our little empire into Whitchurch.

“Getting an act of Milton’s stature to headline our opening night is a massive statement of intent and we want to bring more big names to the town.

“Not only that, it’s a real triple headline bill as both Paul and Eddy are far from support acts, they both headline all the big comedy clubs in their own right.

“Hopefully we can sell out the Civic for the first one and then it will snowball from there, and we would urge people to get behind it and snap up tickets.”

Doors will open at 7pm on the night, with the show starting at around 8pm.

Tickets range in price from £18.50 to £22 and are available at www.ticketsource.co.uk/funnybeeseness
