Live theatre beamed into homes with Birmingham Hippodrome partnership
Audiences are being offered the chance to experience world-class dance theatre in “real time” while seated in their own homes, thanks to a partnership between Birmingham Hippodrome and dance powerhouse company, Rambert.
They have been live-streaming the world premiere of Rooms to audiences across the globe in a three-day event, which began on Thursday.
It marked the first new production from the creative partnership.
Norwegian choreographer and theatre and film director Jo Strømgren created ‘Rooms’ specifically for the camera and it has been performed and broadcast live, with a cinematographer and camera crew relaying the productions in real-time in the event, which runs until today.
Now the partnership is planning Summer Livestream, a broadcast of two dance works which will also go out to audiences across the world on July 15 at 3pm, July 16 at 8pm and July 17 at 8pm.
