Shrewsbury panto cast are full of beans
It's that time of year again already. The cast of this year's Shrewsbury pantomime are full of beans after their official photocall. All together now – oh yes they are!
The show – Jack and the Beanstalk – is already on course to smash last winter's record-breaking ticket sales, with more than 35,000 visitors expected through the doors.
Peter Nicholson, theatre manager for Theatre Severn, said early ticket sales showed this year's production was set to beat the 33,000 people who attended Aladdin in 2011.
Mr Nicholson said ticket sales were "definitely up" on the same time last year as cast and crew prepare for the biggest pantomime yet – with 64 performances from December 6 until January 13. "Ticket sales are definitely up on the same period in 2011."
The theatre chief was speaking as cast and crew, attended the press launch for the show at Acton Scott Historic Working Farm, near Shrewsbury yesterday.
The panto has been written and produced by Shropshire TV personality Paul Hendy, originally from Dawley in Telford.
Essex-born actor and stand-up comedian Adam Moss, who now lives in Manchester, plays the part of Billy Trott and said:?"For two hours over Christmas you can lose yourself in a panto wonderland and forget everything else."
