The Vagina Monologues, Theatre Severn, Shrewsbury - Review
Female theatre-goers enjoyed a night of raucous fun as Shrewsbury's Theatre Severn hosted a witty new production of The Vagina Monologues.

The Broadway and West End smash, written by Eve Ensler, made its return to the stage featuring an all-star cast including Waterloo Road actress Chelsee Healey, Clare Buckfield of Dancing on Ice fame, and Vicky Entwistle – best known for playing Janice Battersby in Coronation Street.
The three women had the packed female audience, along with a few brave men, howling with laughter as they discussed the joys of being a woman.
The play is based on a number of monologues inspired by interviews with women about their 'you-know-what' of the title.
From child birth to sex, every aspect of womanhood is laid bare in this frequently hilarious and totally x-rated show. Despite its bawdy, comic tone, the play also has a hard-hitting edge, tackling tough subjects such as rape.
A percentage of revenue from ticket sales is also donated to V-Day, a charity which benefits women's charities across the world.
Both Vicky Entwistle and Clare Buckfield were well cast and displayed brilliant comic timing and a gift for impersonation.
At times younger actress Chelsee Healey seemed to get a little flustered, but she still managed to deliver a heartfelt performance.

The Vagina Monologues was billed as the ultimate girl's night in – and definitely lived up to its name.
