Chance to live in a bubble of luxury

Armathwaite Hall was honestly like nowhere I’d ever been before, writes Megan Archer.

Armathwaite Hall Hotel and Spa, set in 400 acres

A humble inner city girl whose favourite dish is (unashamedly) a bowl of cheese and tomato pasta, Armathwaite Hall offered gourmet cuisine, luxury living, and sprawling, picturesque grounds.

We had visited for a birthday celebration, and were so excited to live lavishly for one night. And boy, did we.

Armathwaite Hall treated us like royalty, with an extravagant room, a delicious four-course meal in the evening, and unlimited use of the spa facilities.

And the highlight of our stay at this stunning Cumbrian hotel, nestled right in the heart of Keswick, was undoubtedly the spa.

We spent a good deal of our first day just lounging in the outdoor infinity hot tub, delighting over a little button that let us order bottles of bubbly and cold beer delivered to where we soaked.

The views of the grounds were stunning – one morning we were even able to lazily lie in the hot tub and watch a very intense circuit training session taking place right in front of us – and we didn’t even feel a tiny bit guilty about not taking part.

Our room, complete with more views of the endless countryside, was both old fashioned and strikingly modern. With fancy armchairs facing the window, a bed so big I could have become lost in it, and a flat screen TV on the wall above the bathtub. My only regret was that I was too busy enjoying the spa, grounds, and restaurant to take a bath that weekend...
