Around 100 cars were on display at a Classic Car Show held at Cound Hall, near Shrewsbury on Sunday, organised by Shrewsbury Drapers Company.

The event included a display by drivers and cars from Loton Park Hill Climb together with a performance by Shrewsbury Concert Band who played popular tunes from musical shows.

One of the organisers, Jane Salisbury, commented: "We originally had 70 cars booked to attend but these numbers were swelled by extra people who turned up on the day providing a fantastic show including cars from Lamborghini, Lotus, Rolls Royce, Jensen, Bentley and Ferrari.

"Funds raised from the day will go towards the new Drapers Company Almshouses project in Shrewsbury which provides homes for independent elderly people living in a community setting."

The show was also a lunch halt for Hagley Car Club members taking part in a 100mile scenic tour from Hagley to Ludlow to celebrate the club's 80th anniversary this year.

Club member Simon Andrews commented: "We set off this morning in a cavalcade of 30 cars and followed a route guide to get us here to Cound Hall, before heading on to Ludlow in the afternoon. However, my map reading skills are somewhat doubtful so what was planned as a scenic tour took in several wrong turnings, meaning that our Triumph TR5 literally did take the scenic route, not alone though, as we were being closely followed by a gentleman in a very rare and expensive Ferrari."
