Friends and family were joined by the light infantry as six soldiers from Private Binnersley's Edinburgh battalion took their positions outside the abbey at noon today.

They removed their berets before marching his coffin inside.

It was draped in a Union Flag, and Private Binnersley's beret and belt - the symbols of his career - had been laid on top.

The order of service today included the hymns All Things Bright and Beautiful and Onward Christian Soldiers.

Three buglers, two from Shrewsbury and one from Edinburgh, were at the abbey to sound the Last Post and Reveille at the end of the funeral.

Private Binnersley, who lived at Telford Estate, Monkmoor studied at Walford and North Shropshire College and worked at Shrewsbury's Corner Exotics, previously Pets Corner for six years.
