The man suffered head wounds in the assault outside Fusion nightclub at about 2.25am on Saturday.

He was rushed to the Princess Royal Hospital with a suspected fractured skull after the incident outside the club in The Parade.

Police say the assault appeared to be without a motive. However, one of the attackers took a Nokia mobile phone dropped by the victim.

The gang fled the club after the attack leaving the victim on the ground.

Officers believe a group of up to three men may have been involved in the assault but two were described.

One was a white man about 17 to 20 years old, short and of slim build, with short, dark hair wearing a light coloured shirt.

The other was also white, about 18 to 25 years old, of average height and a medium to stocky build, with short dark hair and wearing a dark T-shirt.

Detective Constable Mark Weale of Telford CID said: "I intend to get to the bottom of this, violence of any sort is unacceptable. I need help from the public to identify these two young men."

He urged anyone with information or who witnessed the incident to call Telford police on 08457 444888.
