Group plea to hear youth needs
Young people today are under the sorts of stresses that were unimaginable even 20 years ago. They are under constant pressure to work hard and perform well in all areas of their lives. When they don't live up to these expectations they are often labelled as failing. In the mean time, their successes are rarely celebrated.
The lives of young people today are less safe and less secure and at the same time they are given less support with fewer facilities.
At our charity, 4Children, we believe that young people deserve the best we can offer.Ê
In July this year, we launched the Make Space Youth Review supported by the Nestle Trust in order to find out what young people need and want.
The Youth Review is co-chaired by political campaigner, Oona King, and the young mayor of Lewisham, Wilf Petherbridge. We are inviting views and opinions about the provision and demand for services for young people right across the UK.
We want to hear from as many individuals and organisations as possible.
The deadline is October 30 and we are asking that written submissions should be no more than four sides of A4. Details about how to send us your views can be found at www.makespace. org.uk, by e-mailing youthreview@makespace.org.uk or by writing to Make Space Youth Review, 4Children, 5 Greenwich View Place, London E14 9NN.
