Firms have everything for 007
Shrewsbury has been named as one of the top 10 places for James Bond wannabes, with a host of businesses offering everything a DIY spy could need. Shropshire lads could soon be providing serious competition to the iconic secret agent, according to research by Yellow Pages.
The county town has cracked it when it comes to Safe & Vault Equipment, boasting the most suppliers in Britain, and comes sixth in a survey carried out by Yellow Pages of the best places to be a spy.
Researchers calculated which areas had the most spy-related businesses - from Vintage & Classic Car Hire, for that all important Aston Martin, to Diving Schools & Instructors or Flying Schools to plan the perfect getaway.
Ajay Chowdhury, editor of the magazine of the International James Bond Fan Club, said: "There is a 007 in all of us and the Yellow Pages research shows there are a huge number of businesses to help you get your licence to thrill.
"From learning to fly to donning a tux or hiring a dinghy it has never been easier to step into Bond's shoes. Daniel Craig had better watch out - he could soon be facing stiff competition from some unlikely sources."
Richard Duggleby, head of external relations at Yellow Pages publisher Yell, said: "Our research shows you don't need a 'Q' to get you kitted out, wannabe Bonds simply need to get a copy of Yellow Pages."
The other top 10 hotspots are Southampton, Leeds, Guildford, Exeter, Coventry, Gatwick area, Plymouth, High Wycombe and Aylesbury, and Maidstone.
