The supply was restored to most by noon and a final 16 cut off were expected to be connected by 3pm.

Properties were affected in Admaston, Crudgington, Ketley, Ketley Bank, Wellington, Wrockwardine, Ellerdine, Kemberton, Tibberton, Dothill, Hadley, Leegomery, Shawbirch, Trench and Waters Upton.

Jane Branscombe, for Central Networks, said a cable had been cut during some digging work in the area. The original cut was affecting just under 2,400 customers, but we had 100 back on within minutes," she said.

"More were then back on gradually and the majority were reconnected at noon.

"Someone went through one of out cables in the area."

It is not known who cut the cable, but Miss Branscombe said it was not work being done by Central Networks.
