Stars from Dad's Army admire a Shropshire world champion at close quarters - this picture was taken in December 1975 in London at the annual heaviest turkey competition.

The picture was loaned by Mr J Patrick Wood, of Church Stretton, who says: "Mr Chukie weighed in at a colossal 71lbs 12oz, breaking the British and world record for the heaviest turkey, previously held by the USA. It featured in the Guinness Book of World Records at that time and was sold for £500 for charity. It was produced by Dale Turkeys, Caynham, Ludlow, which was part of Midland Poultry Holdings Ltd, Craven Arms.

"I retrieved the photograph from my father Charlie Wood's vast archive, who sadly died in August this year. He was founding chairman of the company and retired in 1978. At the time the company was among the largest in Shropshire."

Joining the Dad's Army stars were Brian Dale (MPH vice chairman), John Petry (marketing director), and Archie McLullich (Dale Breeding Farms Manager).
